Abstract:
An accurate function driven algorithm for comprehensive conceptual design of PM-free E motors (EESM and SyRM) will be developed by taking into account their electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical properties all of them being taken into account simultaneously. Our proposed approach is to combine conceptual design, technology aspect, production and material cost, which will be addressed as well as form a complete circle of the electric motor design process. In an unprecedentedly short time of few minutes, the E motor designer could get an insight into the solutions that were not available before.
The project will be focused on four main topics, each covering one platform:
- Investigation of physical phenomena including advanced modeling and measurements
- Design expert system including multi-physical conceptual design of EESM motor
- Digital twin composition to connect digital word to real one
- Methodology development allowing to form EESM motor distributed parallel experimental modeling community of SME (from Slovenia and Austria)

Objectives of the proposed research and their realization:
- Comprehensive conceptual design procedure for EES‑motors (estimate of 50% achievement rate in midterm)
- Novel approaches to replace standard power loss models (estimate of 70% achievement rate in midterm)
- Research on technological aspects of the E‑motor design procedure (estimate of 60% achievement rate in midterm)
- Definition of E‑motor cost, considering production process (estimate of 40% achievement rate in midterm)
